Caught this lovely gem in the Twitter stream of our good friend @davemmett retweeting a twitpic from @ironicsans (lol, ironic sans? killer.) This is one of the worst uses of type we've seen here, combining Papyrus and Comic Sans, the two most hated fonts on the Internet with glitter plastered on a window. Doesn't really scream Urban Country to me at all, just sorta screams, at my eyes.

Seth Godin offers some great points from a marketing perspective on why type is important. He notes that your choices will represent who you are and how people will look at you (he refers to "cheesy" fonts referring to our friend Comic Sans). Hey, people are judgemental. Your image, including typeface, tells a story. I wonder if he's seeing some of the Avatar hype?

Quick, pick up your phones and make a pledge! Nathan grabbed this from PBS apparently. Looks like Papyrus is making yet another appearance on TV. This is clearly not made possible by viewers like you.

If there's one thing I've learned about Papyrus on alcohol labels first-hand, it's that it's trouble. Thanks to Eric for the submission.

All the way from New Zealand, Manuel sends us a screenshot of a clip from Chapelle's Show, "A Moment in the Life of Lil John". I'm hoping this is part of the joke, but even then I wasn't sure if it fit the humor, until I watched the clip, then the intentional low quality kinda made sense. Pretty funny, gets a bit too annoying too soon though, I imagine not unlike the real Lil Jon. Have a watch:

Our good friend Emma found this for us over at Pr*tty Sh*tty - an open letter to James Cameron from Papyrus expressing its gratitude for being made a real Hollywood star with a lead appearance in Avatar. Very heartfelt and sincere, check it out.

When we heard about ILT's (seriously rather difficult) Font Game for iPhone we had to download it. After just a couple attempts there we had it: Papyrus. Of course I expected to see Papyrus; it should be one of the easiest to identify.

PPS: The Font Game is really well deigned and quite fun...definitely challenging, and time-based too. Not proud enough of my scores yet to post to the high-scores list yet ;)
