No gratitude for my eyes

The person with the awesomest name in the world, Friendship Spacestation,, pointed us in the direction of the Gratitude Cafe. After reading their menu (a PDF of course) I'm getting hungry but even more confused not even by the bold Papyrus but the legend of a half-dozen symbols next to each item. Not too sure about raw lasagne. Raw salads, though? Yes. I've had those.

Something to do with Christmas Papyrus

A belated Christmas-related Papyrus (belated because I wasn't checking my email, Thanks Mike for the pic). I actually saw less than I expected this year. Could it be on a decline? I dunno...only 2012 will tell, so keep yours peeled. And keep spreading the word and join us on Facebookfollow on Twitter, and don't forget to bug your friends about it, they'll start spotting it too, it's funny. Happy new year, folks!

Papyrus Wackiness

Steve sends us this crazy Tampa Caribbean USA festival pic from a website that has more fonts than probably any other website I've seen.

The Original Founding Fathers

Well yours, not mine. I'm from Canada where they got confused about villages and countries and that's how we were named, but that matters not. I'm not quote sure who those dudes are, or if the guy in that pic is who sent this, if he now owns that shirt, or what. It's a post full of confusion.

Papyrus Papyrus

Yo dawg, I heard you like Papyrus... Wait, that doesn't really fit. I tried. Still, this is a a good one, every time I see the papyrus stores I lol a little bit to myself and wonder if anyone in that company knows about the Papyrus font and lols a bit to themselves too. Not likely, but one can imagine. Thanks Amanda for sending this in, you made my day.

Papyrus and tattoos? No thanks...

Sorry, it just concerns me. And it should you, too. We've seen Papyrus tattoo parlours that were pretty pissed that we posted about them, Papyrus tattoos and even more Papyrus tattoos even (though that's not this dude's biggest problem). And not this selection of brochures from Jennifer. Stay safe, people.

We need a font renaissance

Free tickets to the Renaissance Festival! What I don't get is why the Papyrus? The font on the ticket is much more appropriate. Although the publisher likely didn't have that font on file, but still. Papyrus and "$42 Value" don't sit well with me. Thanks to Kris for this one.

Exit the gift shop

Been seeing Papyrus making its way onto shirts lately, half the time it's when I'm at a thrift store. But here's on sent in by Brandon that I'm guessing is form the gift shop at Arches National Park. Pretty far from awesome.

Gaia Natural Papyrus Water

Joel sends us some fancy Canadian water boasting its natural spring water-ness (most likely from the vast water sands of Canada) with the most appropriate font for the job.

Where'd this Papyrus come from?

We talk about this often in the design industry, looking at other work, etc. and deciding whether it's good or not. We can be really critical of course, so I usually refer to something as over the line or not (that is, acceptable or not). This is one of those cases. Kris sent this is as 'horrid' but I don't really think it's that bad overall, save for the Papyrus, which really makes me wonder even more than usual how it happened. There's some Rosewood Fill too, which I kind of like. At the beginning of the year I predicted we'd be seeing more of it throughout the year and I've been spotting it more often, but hasn't really been overdone.

Worst storefront ever

Jack sent this pic saying "hey it's Papyrus and Comic Sans" and then I'm sayin "mmm that's not Comic Sans...". It's a serif, but almost, Comic Serif ("Comic"?). I don't know, anyone? But it's not pretty. But that sure is Papyrus. Add that to the icicle lights, neon open sign, and yellow siding and you've got a wine shop - stuffy or not - that I'll probably walk by on the opposite sidewalk.

Papyrus + Photobomb = ?

I don't know, pretty funny? Really don't know what's going on here. The photobomb I mean, churches seem to love Papyrus. Must be on of those new-wave fun churches. Thanks go to Tricia for sending this in.

Papyrus Beach Vacations

Lovely ad sent in by Cal. Papyrus and stock photos? Win all over here. Although that was probably shot for this ad. It could be a stock photo though.

Advice from a Whale

Colin passionately sends this shirt to us featuring "Advice form a Whale" form the Field Museum in Chicago, which is full of inspiring puns. Way to go and ruin a perfectly nice whale shirt with a bunch of Papyrus, guys.

Really, NASA Papyrus?

Is exactly what Matthew titled his email. This is the goodbye from the last shuttle crew. You can watch it here. I hate to make fun of this but damn, was that a joke? Who designed this? Is that Borat? Are they making fun of America? That's not funny.

Designer Hell fonts, guess which two

This shirt designed by Valina shows us what the problem really is: every font menu on every computer has these two fonts. Mostly.

Hey, sweet graphix

Jason send in this business card he says should never have existed. I was thinking "yeah probably not" and then I got to the "Graphix" part, and then there was little question.

Papyrus University

Tuition is going up at UACA, Universidad Autónoma de Centro América in Costa Rica, perhaps a new font is in the budget? No! I don't think it was by the looks of the snazzy notebook she's got that? Wait a sec, that's not stock photography with the logo Photoshopped on, is it? Thanks to Andrea for this specimen.

Papyrus (and octopus balls) like no other

Paolo shares with us some pics from TK Takoyaki, a food company in Manila that appears to specialize in franchises and food carts selling takoyaki balls. Freshly cooked octopus balls like no other!

Font Fluxx

Wait, what? Keiya send us some interesting info on a line of card games called Fluxx by Looney Labs. Looks like some sort of "rules"-like card game.  I've never heard of it, but they've got a religion-themed version called Christian Fluxx, and yes you guessed it, use one of Christianity's favourite fonts, Papyrus. The cards are sort of neat looking though. See also Eco Fluxx, Drinking Fluxx, and Stoner Fluxx. Well now I've gotta go read more into what this Fluxx game is all about, I'm kind of intrigued now.
